Introduction to Assets in 3D product configurator

Assets are an important part of the configuration of the 3D product configurator

Refer to the Asset related terminology and concepts for overview of the terminology used in the documentation.

The way to think assets is that they are data that are externally produced in order to make the product configuration logic work and mostly relate to data for the 3D environment. These assets are typically generated by other software systems like CADs or 3D modelling tools or similar.

In textual form an asset is linked to an item in the configurator and configuered on how the 3D view in the Planner represents the item in the properties of the item.

Any asset can be linked to one or more items, thus simplifying the configuration.
